The All Progressives Congress has dismissed a purported list of senatorial candidates currently circulating on social media and various online platforms, describing it as fake and unauthorized.
In a statement issued and signed by Felix Morka, The National Publicity Secretary on June 4, 2026, the party said its attention had been drawn to a publication titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far,” which it said did not originate from any official APC source.
The party urged its members, stakeholders, media organizations, and the general public to disregard the list entirely, insisting that it has no connection with the APC.
“The APC wishes to state that the said list is FAKE, and did not emanate from the Party,” the statement read.
According to the party, only the appropriate organs of the APC have the authority to announce candidates who emerge from its primary elections and other constitutionally recognized processes.
“The Party reiterates that only the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, acting through its duly authorized channels of communication, is empowered to announce the list of candidates emerging from its primary elections and other constitutionally prescribed processes,” the statement added.
The APC expressed concern that the circulation of unverified information could create unnecessary confusion among party members and mislead the public regarding the status of its nomination process.
The party also warned against actions capable of undermining confidence in its internal democratic procedures, especially at a time when party primaries and candidate selection processes are ongoing.
“We urge all Party members and stakeholders to refrain from circulating unverified information capable of causing confusion, misleading the public or undermining the integrity of the Party’s democratic processes,” the statement said.
The APC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and due process, assuring members that official information concerning candidates and primary election outcomes would be communicated through recognized party channels.
