The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed veteran comedian Hon. Ayuba Dutse, Plateau State Coordinator, as a member of its Contact and Mobilisation Committee under the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria project, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dutse, who is popularly known for his rib-cracking comedy and stage performances across the country, has now added political mobilisation to his growing portfolio, a move that has surprised many of his fans and followers.

The appointment was contained in a letter dated June 15, 2026, and signed by the National Leader and National Coordinator of the organisation, Hon. Dr. Anyanwu Callistus. The letter, made available to bloggers in Jos, takes immediate effect.

Part of the letter read: “This appointment is in recognition of your commitment to the organisation and your capacity to contribute meaningfully to the successful planning and execution of our campaign.”

The letter further charged the new appointee to accept the organisation’s best wishes, adding: “Please accept our congratulations and best wishes as we work together to deliver a successful election for APC come 2027.”

Reacting to his appointment, Ayuba Dutse gave all glory to God, describing the elevation as divine and well-deserved, while also thanking the APC family in Plateau State and beyond for their unwavering support.

“I am deeply grateful to the APC family from Plateau State and beyond. Your encouragement has been my pillar. This appointment is not just for me but for all of us who believe in the Renewed Hope agenda of our great party,” the comedian-turned-politician said.

Dutse, who has over the years used his comedic platform to champion social and political causes, pledged to bring his unique communication skills to bear on the assignment, assuring that he would work tirelessly to ensure the committee’s success.

Party faithful say the appointment is strategic, coming at a time the APC is looking to leverage entertainers and influencers to connect with younger voters and grassroots communities in the North-Central zone ahead of the 2027 polls.
