The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to recent accusations by former Minister of Youth and Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung, against Governor Caleb Mutfwang, describing the comments as politically motivated and misleading.

In a press statement issued in Jos, the party said Dalung’s criticism stems from personal grievances following his removal from the federal cabinet during the previous administration.

The APC argued that Dalung’s relationship with the party and the late President Muhammadu Buhari changed after he was dropped as Minister of Sports and Youth Development, a development it said marked the beginning of his sustained attacks on the APC.

According to the party, it was therefore unsurprising that Dalung would criticize Governor Mutfwang’s political realignment with the APC, which it described as popular and widely accepted across Plateau State.

The APC maintained that Plateau State’s political landscape has historically been shaped by the APC and the PDP, adding that the governor’s alignment with the ruling party reflects a redefinition of the state’s political identity.

The party dismissed claims that Governor Mutfwang had abandoned faith-based leadership, insisting there was no evidence to support such allegations.

It stressed that Governor Mutfwang has shown no intention of compromising the values and principles of the Plateau people by aligning with the APC.

The APC further cited the reception accorded the governor during his recent appearance as a clear sign of public endorsement of his political decision.

The party also advised Dalung to focus on addressing internal issues within his current political party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), rather than making statements capable of causing division.
