The Plateau State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Rufus Bature, has pledged to sustain what he described as “quality leadership” as momentum builds around his bid for a second term, with many APC members across the state openly endorsing his return ahead of the party’s congress on Tuesday.
Bature, who recently wrote on his Facebook page, said the time had come to consolidate the gains recorded under his administration while deepening unity and internal democracy within the party.
“Together, we will strengthen the foundation of the All Progressives Congress in Plateau State for greater unity and progress,” Bature declared, stressing that continuity in leadership would ensure stability and sustained reforms.
He reiterated his three-point reform agenda anchored on inclusive leadership, transparent governance, and renewed grassroots mobilization, describing them as the pillars upon which the Plateau APC must stand to remain competitive and cohesive.
“Our mission is clear inclusive leadership, transparent governance, and renewed grassroots mobilization. We are determined to ensure that every member, from the ward to the state level, feels a sense of belonging and purpose”.
The chairman emphasized that quality and proactive leadership entails safeguarding the interests of party members, strengthening reconciliation mechanisms, and ensuring fairness in decision-making processes.
He pledged to maintain an open-door policy that encourages dialogue, constructive criticism, and consensus-building.
According to him, rebuilding trust within the party remains paramount.
He assured members that under his watch, internal disputes would be resolved amicably and transparently.
Findings report that several APC members have endorsed his re-election, citing his stabilizing influence, commitment to grassroots engagement, and efforts at unifying divergent tendencies within the party.
They commended his consultative approach and described his leadership as instrumental in repositioning the APC’s structures across the 17 local government areas, as well as providing the capacity and leadership that encouraged Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang to defect to the APC.
Political observers interpret the widespread endorsements of Hon. Rufus Bature as a strong vote of confidence in his stewardship, particularly at a time when cohesion and strategic planning are critical to the party’s future electoral prospects.
Bature has disclosed plans to intensify consultations with ward and local government executives to further energize the party’s base and expand membership.
He maintained that grassroots mobilization remains the heartbeat of political success and must not be neglected.
“Grassroots mobilization remains the heartbeat of any political party. We must return to the basics engaging our people, understanding their concerns, and presenting solutions that reflect our progressive ideals.”
As Plateau’s political terrain continues to evolve, analysts believe that the combination of Bature’s reform agenda and growing stakeholder support could significantly shape the outcome of the upcoming congress and determine the APC’s trajectory in the state.
With endorsements mounting and his pledge for continuity resonating among party faithful, the Plateau APC appears set for a defining moment as it navigates the path toward unity, stability, and strategic growth.
