Renowned Nigerian rapper Jesse Jagz has taken a swipe at Nigeria’s First Lady over her recent advice urging Nigerians to embrace small-scale businesses such as frying akara and roasting corn to survive the country’s economic hardship.

The rapper, known for his outspoken views on national issues, reacted in a post on his X handle, formerly Twitter, arguing that ordinary Nigerians are being asked to make sacrifices while those in positions of power continue to enjoy the privileges of government.

His reaction comes amid widespread public debate over the First Lady’s remarks, with many Nigerians expressing mixed opinions on whether such businesses offer a lasting solution to the country’s economic challenges.

Reacting to the advice, Jesse Jagz wrote, “Dem want make pikin dey hawk for street while their own use convoy waka.”

The statement, written in Pidgin English, suggests that the burden of economic survival is being placed on ordinary citizens, while government officials and their families continue to enjoy state-funded benefits.

Jesse Jagz’s post has since attracted reactions across social media, with some users backing his criticism, while others defended the First Lady’s call for entrepreneurship as a practical way of coping with the current economic realities.

The rapper has, in recent weeks, consistently used his X platform to comment on national issues, including insecurity, corruption, gambling promotions, and what he describes as the decline of originality in Nigeria’s music industry.
