Residents of Gana-Ropp community in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, have been thrown into mourning following the killing of their community leader, Mr. Daniel Pulle, popularly known as Nagunda.

The 58-year-old community leader was reportedly shot dead by suspected gunmen on Sunday evening, June 28, 2026.

Sources in the community said the attack occurred at about 7:45 p.m. while the deceased was returning home on his motorcycle near the bridge linking Gana-Ropp community.

However, another account claimed that the assailants stormed his residence before opening fire on him.

The exact circumstances surrounding the attack could not be independently confirmed as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has heightened fears among residents and renewed concerns over the worsening security situation in parts of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

Community members described the killing as tragic and called on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the incident.

They also urged authorities to ensure that those behind the attack are identified, arrested and prosecuted.

The late Daniel Pulle was said to have played a significant leadership role in Gana-Ropp community before his untimely death.

As of press time, security agencies had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
