Former Plateau State Governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Senator Jonah David Jang, has declared the recent congress held in Jos as illegal and of no effect.

In a press statement issued on March 23, 2026, and signed by his Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, the former governor described the gathering as a “so-called congress” organized by self-seeking individuals in collaboration with undemocratic forces outside Plateau State.

Jang maintained that the State Working Committee of the PDP in Plateau remains united and intact, dismissing any suggestion of division within the party’s leadership.

He stressed that the current executives were duly elected during a properly conducted congress monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with the party’s constitution.

According to him, there is no justification for conducting any fresh congress, insisting that all actions and decisions taken at the alleged gathering are null, void, and carry no legal weight.

While acknowledging the ongoing challenges at the national level of the PDP, the former governor said party leaders are actively working to resolve all disputes and restore unity.

He revealed that he and other stakeholders have held a series of meetings in Abuja over the past two weeks, with more engagements planned to address the crisis.

Senator Jang called on party members in Plateau State to remain calm, steadfast, and united, expressing confidence that the issues facing the party would soon be resolved.

He also cautioned those he described as agents of distraction to desist from actions capable of deepening divisions within the PDP.

Reaffirming the party’s position in the state, Jang declared that the PDP remains strong in Plateau, adding that the State Working Committee led by Chief Raymond Dabo is the only recognized leadership of the party.
