Plateau State’s political landscape is experiencing a significant shift as top government officials follow Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s lead. In the latest development, Engineer Dominic Datong Gwaman, Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The move, which took place at Namu Ward, Quanpan Local Government Area, comes shortly after Governor Mutfwang’s defection to the APC. Mr. Datong’s decision reflects his commitment to aligning with the Governor’s leadership and the state’s governance agenda, while also signaling concerns about the PDP’s readiness to effectively sponsor candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Mr. Datong submitted his resignation to the PDP Ward Executive, expressing gratitude for the opportunities he enjoyed under the party and wishing it success in its future endeavors. He was then welcomed by the APC Ward Executive Committee, completed all required clearance procedures, and was officially registered as a member of the APC.

Speaking to party officials, Mr. Datong reaffirmed his dedication to the APC’s ideals, promising to contribute actively to its growth, consolidation, and grassroots mobilization across the state.
The process was conducted in an orderly and transparent manner, demonstrating strict adherence to due process and institutional discipline. Political analysts describe this development as part of a broader realignment in Plateau State, as key stakeholders strategically reposition ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
