Renowned Nigerian rapper Jesse Jagz has criticised what he described as fake success and artificial popularity in the Afrobeats music scene.
He shared his views in a post on his official X account, sparking conversation among fans and industry players.
The rapper questioned the kind of support some artists receive, suggesting that their popularity is not built on genuine fan love but on handouts and promotions.
According to Jesse Jagz, “Remove give aways and some people will have no fans.” He said this shows that real connection with listeners is missing.
Recall that the rapper has once spoken out against some musicians who promote gambling to their fans where he expressed concern about the harm gambling promotions are causing, especially to people who trust celebrities and musicians.
Jesse Jagz also condemned dishonest practices used to boost relevance in the industry. In his words, “Fake streams, fake coin, fake fan base, everything made up or bought.”
Jesse Jagz warned that such practices will not last, stressing that change is coming. He stated, “This year we will end all the fakes!”
