The Federal Fire Service has inducted 700 newly trained officers into active service, marking the largest single graduation in the history of the agency.
The induction took place during the Passing Out Parade of the Federal Fire Service Regular Course 06, held at the NDLEA Academy, Rikkos, Plateau State, and attracted top government and security officials.
The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, charged the new officers to remain disciplined, courageous, and fully committed to the protection of lives and property as they begin their professional duties. He was represented at the ceremony by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo.
Governor Mutfwang described firefighting as a noble and demanding profession, stressing that it requires integrity, professionalism, and the confidence of the public.
He further assured that the Plateau State Government would continue to collaborate with the Federal Fire Service and other emergency and security agencies to enhance public safety across communities.
The Minister of Interior, Hon. Tunji Olubunmi, represented by Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd), said the induction aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that reforms are ongoing to modernize the Federal Fire Service for contemporary emergency challenges.
Also speaking, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, CG Samuel Olumode, disclosed that the officers underwent nine months of intensive training and would be deployed nationwide to operate newly acquired firefighting equipment.
The ceremony featured a colourful parade, tactical drills, and operational demonstrations, underscoring the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening emergency response capacity and improving public safety nationwide.
