Plateau State Deputy Governor, Ngo Josephine Piyo, on Wednesday visited Barkin Ladi Local Government Area to sympathize with communities hit by recent attacks. The visits to Ratatis (Dorowa Babuje) and Jong village followed the tragic loss of lives on February 22.
The delegation sought to console grieving families and reassure residents of the government’s unwavering commitment to peace and security across the state.
The Deputy Governor began her mission with a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Council. She then led a delegation to Ratatis (Dorowa Babuje), where community leaders, traditional rulers, and residents received them amid palpable mourning.

Speaking at the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi expressed heartfelt condolences to the people. He appreciated security agencies for their prompt response to the incident.
He noted that Governor Caleb Mutfwang chose to reach out personally through the Deputy Governor, describing the gesture as genuine concern for citizens’ safety. He urged community members to remain vigilant and prayed such incidents would never recur.
Addressing the community, Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo stated she came on the Governor’s direct instruction to commiserate with all affected parties.
The Governor has sent a high-powered delegation to identify with you and to assure you that the Plateau State Government is fully committed to your safety,” she said. “The people of Plateau are peace-loving and accommodating, and anyone who is against peace will be fished out and dealt with.
She emphasized that the government strongly condemns killings in any form. She disclosed that security agencies are already investigating the incidents thoroughly.
“Security operatives are on top of the situation, and the perpetrators of these heinous acts will be brought to book,” the Deputy Governor assured.
The delegation later proceeded to Jong village, where three persons were reportedly killed before the Ratatis incident. The Miyetti Allah Chairman in Barkin Ladi received the team, while the Deputy Governor extended condolences to widows and families of the deceased.
Members of the delegation included the Deputy Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government and the Da Gwom Rwey Gwol. Also present were the Special Adviser on Security to the Governor and Director-General of Operation Rainbow, alongside the Special Adviser on Inter-Continental Affairs.
The Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Board, the Chairman of CAN, clergy, senior government officials, and community representatives joined the solidarity visit.
The visit concluded with prayers for the departed souls and renewed assurances that the Plateau State Government will continue taking concrete steps to protect lives. Officials pledged to promote peaceful coexistence across all communities in the state.
