Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang (Esq.), has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council to make the achievements of his administration and ongoing development projects the centrepiece of their mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mutfwang gave the charge on Monday during the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council at Government House, Rayfield, Jos, where he called for a peaceful, disciplined and issue-based campaign to seek renewed mandates for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates in the state.

The governor said his administration had recorded progress in critical sectors but acknowledged that more work remained, stressing that another term would provide an opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects and programmes.
“There is no government that ends everything. Every government is a relay. Our duty is not to make others look bad; it is to see how we can collectively make Plateau State look better,” he said.
On security, Mutfwang acknowledged the challenges confronting the state, disclosing that plans were underway to facilitate the return of internally displaced persons to their communities.
He also announced plans to deploy at least 800 trained forest guards and commission another batch of retrained Operation Rainbow personnel to strengthen security in vulnerable communities.
Highlighting measures to cushion the effects of economic hardship, the governor listed the introduction of Tin City Metro buses, revival of rail services within Jos metropolis, a 50 per cent reduction in tuition fees at state-owned tertiary institutions and a 300 per cent increase in student allowances.
He also defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, urging Nigerians to consider the fiscal and structural challenges inherited by the Federal Government in 2023.
On party unity, Mutfwang urged APC leaders and candidates to put aside internal differences and strengthen their structures across the 17 local government areas, stressing that electoral success depended largely on grassroots mobilisation.
“The votes are in the polling unit. They are not in Jos. Everybody can only matter in the locality where you come from,” he said.

Plateau State APC Chairman, Hon. Rufus Bature, described the inauguration as a significant step towards building a coordinated campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bature emphasised the importance of grassroots organisation, loyalty, effective communication and accountability, urging members of the campaign council to work diligently and avoid complacency.
He stressed that the party’s electoral prospects would depend on the commitment of its members and the strength of its structures across polling units, adding that the party remained open to accommodating more stakeholders as preparations progressed.

Also speaking, Director-General of the Mutfwang/Piyo 2027 Governorship Campaign Council, Sir Joseph Ari, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in him and other members of the campaign council.
Ari pledged that the campaign would be guided by discipline, teamwork, effective organisation and a strong sense of responsibility, assuring that members would approach the assignment with commitment.
He commended the governor’s Time Is Now policy direction, particularly its emphasis on unity, mutual respect and development, describing peaceful coexistence as essential to sustainable progress in Plateau State.
The campaign director-general disclosed that the council had received expressions of support from 115 support groups, alongside solidarity visits and assurances from traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths and other organised groups.
He assured that the campaign would be factual, issue-based and devoid of bitterness or acrimony, while calling on party faithful and Plateau residents to turn out on November 14, 2026, to welcome President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and other national party leaders during their scheduled visit to the state.
