The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Plateau State Governor, Dr. Gyang Bere, has tasked the Muchigaba Movement with documenting and reporting government projects across the state’s 17 local government areas to promote public awareness of the administration’s development initiatives.

Bere gave the charge when he received members of the movement, led by its convener, Dr. Solomon Kwakfut, during a courtesy visit to his office at the New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

The visit was aimed at exploring media collaboration and strengthening the movement’s digital communication strategy through bloggers, content creators and other new media practitioners across Plateau State.

Bere commended the movement for its interest in public engagement, urging its members to visit communities, document infrastructure projects and report development activities to keep residents informed about government interventions.

He identified road construction, healthcare, education, electricity and rural development as some of the areas receiving attention from the administration, noting that digital media practitioners had a role to play in communicating the impact of such projects to the public.

“There are massive things that the government is doing. There are a lot of investments that the government has made, but we need a short period of time; we will begin to see what the government is manifesting one after the other,” Bere said.

He encouraged the movement to use its digital platforms to highlight developments across communities, adding that effective communication would help residents gain a better understanding of government activities.

Earlier, Kwakfut said the movement was bringing together bloggers, creatives and content creators from different associations and media networks to expand its reach and communicate its vision to a wider audience.

Kwakfut disclosed that the movement planned to develop digital content around government projects and establish correspondents across the 17 local government areas to gather reports from communities.

He explained that the initiative would promote citizen journalism by enabling residents to report developments in their localities, with the movement collating the information to provide a broader picture of activities at the grassroots.

The convener added that the movement was seeking collaboration and support from the governor’s media office to strengthen its digital operations and expand the reach of its content across Plateau State.
