The Muchigaba Movement, a political support group mobilising support for Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang’s re-election in 2027, has been unveiled, with its patron, Amb. Nehemiah Mutfwang, donating a vehicle to support its operations.

The unveiling brought together members and stakeholders of the movement, which says it is committed to grassroots mobilisation, community empowerment and engagement with government.

Speaking at the event, the Convener, Dr. Solomon Kwakfut, said the movement was established to promote community development through constructive partnership with government rather than constant criticism.

He said the group also seeks to empower young people and strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises, SMEs, disclosing that it comprises more than 400 associations, including artisans.

“We believe that if we are able to mobilise and organise ourselves very well and partner with government, we should be able to access resources to uplift our communities,” Kwakfut said.

The Patron, Amb. Nehemiah Mutfwang, urged members to embrace unity, fresh political ideas and sustained engagement, warning against internal divisions that have characterised politics on the Plateau.

He said the movement brings together professionals, artisans, religious leaders, councillors and media practitioners, adding that members who secure political appointments should support the organisation’s sustainability.

“It’s time for us, as young people, to take our destiny into our own hands. We need to change the perception of politics on the Plateau, which has been characterised by infighting since 1999, and embrace new ideas,” he said.

Mutfwang also called for broader political engagement beyond Plateau State before donating a vehicle to facilitate the movement’s activities.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Plateau State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, PLASCHEMA, Dr. Solomon Kwande Dawap, highlighted the government’s house-to-house health insurance enrolment across the state’s 17 local government areas.

He said the expanded Mutfwang Care initiative aims to bring healthcare closer to rural communities and vulnerable residents, urging political officeholders and other stakeholders to support domestic resource mobilisation for grassroots healthcare delivery.

Similarly, Hon. John Kele, Councillor representing Jenta Adamu Ward in Jos North Local Government Area, said the movement was mobilising support across the state’s three senatorial districts for Mutfwang’s re-election.

Kele cited ongoing rural road construction, including a project in his ward, as evidence of the administration’s efforts to improve access to communities.
