Concerned youths and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jos-South Local Government Area of Plateau State have called on the party leadership to immediately announce what they described as the authentic result of the Jos-South House of Assembly primary election held on May 20, 2026.

Speaking during a press briefing at APC state secretariat, Kalwa House in Jos, the group expressed concern over the delay in the official announcement of the primary election result, more than 48 hours after voting was concluded across the local government area.

The statement, read by Comrade Andrew Dalyop, said the delay had created suspicion, anxiety, and tension among party members and supporters in Jos-South.

“We are not here to fight our party. We are here to defend the credibility of our party, the dignity of its members, and the sanctity of the votes peacefully cast in the Jos-South House of Assembly primary election held on 20 May 2026,” the group stated.

The stakeholders alleged that they were in possession of documents showing what they believed to be the authentic result alongside another version containing figures that did not reflect the actual votes cast during the exercise.

“This concern is made more serious by the fact that we are in possession of documents showing both what we believe to be the authentic result and another version which appears to contain figures that do not reflect the voting reality on ground,” the statement added.

According to the group, party members who participated in the primary election deserved to have their votes respected, stressing that democracy must not be undermined through the alteration or substitution of election results after voting had been concluded.

“A primary election cannot be treated as a ceremony after which another result is written elsewhere. That is not democracy. That is not internal party justice. That is not the APC our members believe in,” they said.

The APC stakeholders further warned that any attempt to impose a result contrary to the will of party members could threaten the peaceful political atmosphere in Jos-South, noting that communities in the area had long maintained political balance and mutual respect.

They maintained that based on results known to party members at the end of the primary election, Hon. Mancha John Vincent scored 4,326 votes and emerged winner of the contest.

“Based on the result known to party members from the primary election held on 20 May 2026, Hon. Mancha John Vincent emerged with 4,326 votes. We therefore call on the relevant party authorities to announce the authentic result without further delay,” the statement noted.

The group also appealed to the national leadership of the APC, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other stakeholders to intervene and ensure that justice prevailed in the matter.

They urged APC youths and supporters in Jos-South to remain calm, disciplined, and law-abiding while awaiting the intervention of party authorities, insisting that their demand was rooted in fairness, justice, and the protection of internal democracy within the party.
