Supporters of Comrade Ayuba Dalyop Mandung, popularly known as AYUDEH, have described him as one of the most influential grassroots political figures to emerge from the 2026 APC State House of Assembly primaries in Jos South, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding the outcome of the election.
In a statement titled “AYUDEH and the Spirit of the People: A Story of Courage, Resilience, and Political Acceptance in Jos South,” the Selfless Service Movement 2027 said the May 20, 2026 APC primaries demonstrated the growing popularity and acceptance of AYUDEH across the constituency.
According to the statement signed by the Secretary of the movement, Gyang Samuel Thomas, the contest highlighted a clash between grassroots politics and entrenched political interests.
“The just-concluded APC State House of Assembly Primaries held on 20th May 2026 will remain one of the most discussed political exercises in the recent history of Jos South. It was a contest that tested the strength of grassroots politics against the weight of established political interests.”
The group noted that AYUDEH’s political rise was built on years of community engagement, accessibility, and service through the Selfless Service Movement.
“Long before the primaries, AYUDEH had built a reputation as a leader whose doors were open to everyone. Through the Selfless Service Movement, he cultivated relationships across communities, youth groups, women associations, religious organizations, and political stakeholders.”
The statement further claimed that despite facing opposition from influential political forces, the APC aspirant remained focused on engaging directly with the electorate.
“As the primary election approached, many believed that the odds were heavily stacked against him. Political forces, influential interests, and established gladiators were reportedly aligned against his aspiration. Yet, despite these challenges, AYUDEH continued his campaign with humility, determination, and faith in the judgment of the people.”
Supporters argued that the level of support recorded during the primaries exceeded expectations and reflected widespread confidence in his leadership style and vision.
The movement, however, acknowledged that the aftermath of the election has been marred by disputes over the collation process, particularly allegations of irregularities in Giring Federal Ward.
“Concerns were raised regarding alleged irregularities that occurred during the collation process, particularly in Giring Federal Ward. These concerns have since become matters of legal consideration, with supporters expressing confidence that the courts will carefully examine the evidence and ensure that justice is done in accordance with the law.”
The statement stressed that the dispute goes beyond personal political ambitions and touches on the credibility of democratic processes.
“The issue before the court is not merely about a political contest. For many supporters, it is about protecting the integrity of democracy and ensuring that electoral processes reflect the true wishes of the people.”
Despite the ongoing legal battle, the group maintained that AYUDEH’s political standing in Jos South remains strong and that his message of selfless service continues to resonate with many residents.
“Regardless of the final legal outcome, one fact remains undeniable: Comrade Ayuba Dalyop Mandung emerged from the primaries as one of the most influential grassroots political figures in Jos South.”
The movement attributed his popularity to years of service to ordinary citizens, describing him as a leader known for supporting vulnerable groups, empowering young people, and promoting community development.
It concluded by expressing confidence that the legal process would uphold justice while affirming that AYUDEH has already earned a place in the hearts of many people across the constituency.
“As the legal process continues, supporters remain hopeful that truth, justice, and democratic principles will prevail. Whatever the final outcome, they remain convinced that Comrade Ayuba Dalyop Mandung (AYUDEH) has already secured a special place in the hearts of many people across Jos South.”
The statement was signed by Gyang Samuel Thomas, Secretary of the Selfless Service Movement 2027.
