The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Hon. Rufus Bature, has assured party members and aspirants that the party will provide a fair and transparent environment for all those seeking elective positions in future elections.

Hon. Bature gave the assurance while speaking to journalists at the APC State Secretariat, Kalwa House in Jos, where he spoke on the party’s plans to strengthen internal democracy, promote unity among members, and prepare the party for upcoming political contests.

He explained that the APC would strictly follow the provisions of the Electoral Act and the party’s constitution in selecting candidates for elective offices. According to him, aspirants will have equal opportunities to contest without discrimination.

“By the provision of the new Electoral Act, we can elect our candidates or our aspirants by way of direct primary or consensus.”

“As a party, we will create a level playing ground for every individual that wants to aspire to any position, from the councillor to the president,” he said.

The APC chairman also emphasized the importance of unity within the party, noting that the APC in Plateau State is focused on working together rather than creating divisions among members.

Speaking on the party’s internal processes, Hon. Bature acknowledged that consensus arrangements sometimes leave some members dissatisfied but assured that the party has internal mechanisms to address such concerns.

“In many cases, it is not possible to achieve 100 percent acceptance. There will always be some people who are dissatisfied. Normally, in a consensus arrangement, you will find individuals who feel disgruntled,” he explained.

However, he stressed that the party leadership is committed to reconciling all aggrieved members and ensuring that everyone feels included in the party’s activities.

“We have internal party mechanisms that we use to address grievances and reconcile members, and that process is already ongoing,” Hon. Bature added.

He expressed confidence that with unity, fairness, and adherence to party rules, the APC in Plateau State will continue to grow stronger and remain a dominant political force in future elections.
