Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has revealed that he once had the opportunity to pursue a professional football career before choosing music.
The singer said that while growing up, he combined football and music and was even offered the chance to play for Plateau United F.C. after training with the Pepsi Football Academy in Jos.
Mr P also recalled that he played at the academy with Nigerian football star John Obi Mikel.
According to him, his dream then was to eventually play professional football in Europe, but destiny led him to music instead.
“Yes, I used to play football and chase music at the same time… I was even offered the chance to play for Plateau United from Pepsi Academy back then in Jos. But my dream was always to play in Europe. Somehow, destiny chose the mic instead,” he said.
Today, Mr P says becoming a successful musician is nothing but grace, as he continues to build his career after the success of the legendary Psquare duo.
