President of the Evangelical Bible Outreach Ministries International, Prophet Isa El-Buba, has tackled Sheikh Yahaya Jingir over his recent comments on religious politics and the Muslim-Muslim ticket.
El-Buba cautioned Christians against aligning with individuals whose statements, he said, could deepen religious division and tension in the country.
“Woe to any Christian who will align himself with Sheikh Yahaya Jingir,” El-Buba said, while urging religious leaders and citizens to exercise wisdom in their public utterances.
He stressed the need for religious leaders, particularly those advancing in age, to be mindful of the consequences of their words and avoid statements capable of inciting division.
El-Buba said his commitment to humanity transcends religious boundaries, noting that he has supported more than 10,000 Muslims across Nigeria.
On the Muslim-Muslim ticket, the cleric questioned whether the arrangement had significantly improved the living conditions of ordinary Muslims.
He cited the presence of large numbers of Almajiri children in cities such as Lagos and Abuja, asking how the political arrangement had benefited the vulnerable Muslim population.
“If the Muslim-Muslim ticket is meant to benefit Muslims, how has it improved the lives of these vulnerable people?” El-Buba queried.
He also urged political leaders to be mindful of the influence of religious figures and called on the Kano State Governor to distance himself from Jingir if his statements continue to promote division.
El-Buba said Nigeria needs leaders and religious voices capable of promoting unity, peace and mutual respect rather than deepening existing religious and social divisions.
