The National Chairman of the Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, has defended his right to speak on issues affecting Plateau State, insisting that he is a bona fide son of the state.
Jingir made the clarification while responding to criticism over his recent comments on developments and matters of public interest in Plateau.
Speaking on his social media platforms on Monday, the Islamic cleric said he was born in Gurum District of Bassa Local Government Area of the state.
He therefore maintained that as an indigene of Plateau, he has the right to express his views on issues concerning the state and its people.
Jingir said his interventions were motivated by his concern for the affairs and wellbeing of Plateau State.
The cleric’s comments followed reactions to his recent remarks on issues affecting the state, which have generated public discussion.
He maintained that he would continue to speak on matters concerning Plateau as a responsible citizen and religious leader.
