The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has flagged off the second phase of a medical outreach in Taraba State as part of activities marking his 58th birthday.
The outreach was witnessed by the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, government officials and residents of the state.
Yilwatda said he was deeply moved by the warmth of the people, particularly children who, despite their health challenges, welcomed the delegation with smiles.
He said the initiative reflected the importance of leadership focused on improving the lives of ordinary Nigerians, expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the resources that made the intervention possible.
According to him, more than 300 surgeries and 572 dental interventions have so far been carried out, while beneficiaries requiring specialised treatment are receiving further attention.
“These are not mere statistics. They are fathers, mothers, children, brothers and sisters whose stories have been given a new chapter. One surgery can change a life.”
Yilwatda also joined other dignitaries to commission critical health facilities, including the Administrative Block, Kidney Centre, High Dependency Unit, Critical Care Unit and a new theatre.
He said the intervention demonstrated what could be achieved when leadership is driven by service, promising to continue using his position to support vulnerable Nigerians and contribute to national development.
“At 58, I ask God for only greater wisdom to serve and more opportunities to make a difference. Many of my age mates are no longer here, so every additional day is a gift I must use in the service of humanity.”
