The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is set to formally join the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, January 2, 2026.

In a resignation letter dated December 29, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, the Governor announced his withdrawal from the party with immediate effect.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect,” Governor Mutfwang stated in the letter.

He explained that his decision was guided by the realities of the moment and his commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and effective service delivery to the people of Plateau State.

The Governor expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him the platform to pursue his political aspirations and thanked party members and supporters for their loyalty and support over the years.

According to him, the move to the APC is a strategic decision taken in the overriding interest of Plateau State, aimed at better aligning the state’s development goals with the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.

Governor Mutfwang reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, unity, and breaking barriers of division, stressing that these remain key to sustainable development in the state.

The formal registration and presentation of the APC membership card to the Governor will take place at Victoria Gowon Hall, Government House, Rayfield, Jos, by 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

Afterward, he is expected to proceed to the APC State Secretariat at Kalwa House, Yakubu Gowon Way, Jos, to meet with party leaders and members.
Party faithful, political associates, supporters, and well-wishers have been invited to witness what has been described as a historic political development in Plateau State.
