Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has been named Governor of the Year 2025 at the prestigious Silverbird Group Man of the Year Awards. The ceremony, which took place at Eko Hotels & Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, celebrated Mutfwang’s transformative leadership and developmental strides in the North-Central state.
The award acknowledged his administration’s reported advancements in leveraging technology for security management, alongside significant progress in rural infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and education. Organisers highlighted these milestones as key factors reshaping the narrative of Plateau State and attracting renewed interest from investors.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Mutfwang dedicated the honour to the people of Plateau, acknowledging their unwavering support. He noted that the collective effort has resulted in tangible improvements in the living conditions of citizens across the state.
“Enduring peace requires leaders to rise above rivalry, provide purposeful direction, and take responsibility for guiding the populace toward development,” Mutfwang stated, emphasizing unity across political divides. He pointed to the presence of his predecessor, Senator Simon Lalong, and former Deputy Speaker Ahmed Idris Wase at the event as proof of this bipartisan commitment to progress.
The Governor painted a hopeful picture of the state’s future, portraying Plateau as emerging from a past marred by conflict to become a prime destination for investment. He attributed this transformation to deliberate policies aimed at fostering peace, productivity, and shared prosperity.
“We are shifting Plateau from a state long associated with conflict to an emerging destination for investment,” Mutfwang declared. He pledged to maintain his focus on security, infrastructural transformation, and inclusive governance, while also thanking the Silverbird Group for the recognition.
Senator Simon Lalong endorsed the award as well-deserved, promising sustained bipartisan support to help the governor consolidate his achievements. The event attracted a wide array of dignitaries, including lawmakers, traditional rulers, and cabinet members, underscoring the broad interest in the state’s renewed trajectory.
The accolade was ultimately framed not only as validation of the Mutfwang administration’s achievements but also as motivation to uphold its social contract with the people. Organizers called for continued unity and stronger partnerships between government and media to ensure the sustainability of the state’s developmental gains.
