Former Plateau State Governor, Da Senator Jonah David Jang, has condemned the recent killings in Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area, raising serious concerns over the persistent violence in the state.
In a statement issued on March 30, 2026, and signed by his Media Consultant, Comrade Clinton Garuba, the former governor described the situation as deeply troubling.
“Plateau State, our beloved home, has once again been pushed to the cliff’s edge by agents of darkness whose sole objective is to force us into a state of perpetual fear and regression,” Jang said.
He decried the timing of the attack, which occurred on Palm Sunday, a day symbolizing peace, questioning the continued bloodshed in the state.
“The horrific attack at Angwan Rukuba community, occurring on Palm Sunday—a day dedicated to peace—raises a fundamental question: for how long shall these killings continue?” he added.
Jang noted that the death toll from the attack has risen to 28 persons, stressing that the victims were more than just numbers.
“The number of lives lost now stands at 28. These are not just statistics, but individuals full of promise, dreams, and potential whose lives were violently cut short,” he stated.
The former governor called for stronger and more proactive measures from security agencies, urging a shift from reactive responses to preventive strategies.
“We must move beyond reactionary measures and prioritize proactive intelligence gathering to dismantle these criminal networks before they strike again,” Jang said.
He also expressed sympathy to the families of the victims and called on residents to remain united, while urging authorities to ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
