The Incorporated Trustees of Massallacin Eid Shop Owners have been awarded N30 billion by a Kano Federal High Court as compensation for the illegal demolition of their stores without following the proper legal procedures.
Recall that the administration led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf razed the commercial centres near Kano Eid Ground in June after labelling them as illegal structures.
The Incorporated Trustees of Massallacin Eid Shop Owners, which represents the traders, opposed the demolition in the Federal High Court, though.
On Friday, Justice Samuel Amobeda, the presiding court, added that the Kano State Government’s treatment of the applicants was inhumane and unlawful.
