The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the immediate deployment of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion of special forces to Plateau State following renewed banditry attacks.

In a press statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the troops have already arrived in the state to decisively confront criminal elements threatening public safety.

The statement noted that the deployment is aimed at strengthening ongoing security operations and is expected to significantly improve the fight against banditry and other forms of insecurity.

The troops were received at the Headquarters of 3 Division, Nigerian Army, Jos, by the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola.

Major General Oyinlola was represented at the reception by the Chief of Staff, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Brigadier General Senlong Sule, who welcomed the troops on behalf of the commander.

The commander urged the deployed forces to be decisive and firm in conducting offensive operations against bandits and criminal networks operating within the state.

He commended the Chief of Army Staff for his proactive leadership, particularly for providing essential combat enablers and logistics to support the effective execution of the mission.

The statement also appealed to residents not to panic over increased troop movements and military equipment, while calling on the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to restore lasting peace in Plateau State.
