Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya Jingir, the National Chairman of the Council of Ulama of the JIBWIS (Izala) movement, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is their choice for the 2027 general election.
Sheikh Jingir made this statement during the 2026 annual seminar organized by the Izala movement in Jos, where he discussed his stance on national politics and the upcoming elections. The report was compiled from a video shared by Jibwis media official, Ibrahim Maina Muhammad.
Sheikh Jingir stated that he has decided to stand with President Tinubu just as he did in the 2023 elections. He explained his support is based on promises of change and improving the lives of citizens.
He noted that his condition for support is the fulfillment of promises and returning kindness, which is why he intends to vote for Tinubu again.
He urged governors and ministers to work harder, claiming that some are deliberately failing in their duties so that the President will be blamed or insulted.
The Sheikh also addressed rumors regarding a rift between President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. He dismissed these rumors as baseless, asserting there is no evidence of disagreement.
He challenged the public, asking if anyone had ever heard Tinubu insult Shettima or Shettima criticize the President.
He prayed for the pair to complete their term successfully and expressed hope for their victory in 2027.
In his speech, the Izala leader advised President Tinubu to ensure justice for every Nigerian, regardless of their religion or tribe.
The report also briefly mentions opposing views such as Barr. Solomon Dalung, The former Minister of Sports and Youth criticized the APC government under Tinubu.
Dalung claimed that there are prominent figures within the APC ready to challenge Tinubu in 2027 and noted that the ADC (African Democratic Congress) is preparing to conduct clean primaries to support a winning candidate.
