The Plateau State chapter of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) has officially affirmed Samuel Danauta Kyarshik as its governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections in the state.

The affirmation took place during the party’s governorship primary election held in Jos, the Plateau State capital, under the supervision of the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Solomon Luka.

Speaking during the exercise, Luka explained that he was delegated by the party’s National Office to conduct the affirmation process, noting that the emergence of only one aspirant made the process straightforward.

According to him, the party had already concluded other primary elections for positions including the Senate and House of Representatives, while the Jos gathering was specifically for the governorship affirmation.

He said the party adopted the consensus option as provided by the party’s guidelines since only one aspirant was cleared for the race.

Luka stated that after consultations and agreement by party members present, there was no objection to the affirmation of Samuel Danauta Kyarshik as the party’s authentic gubernatorial candidate.

“We are here to make it official because by our guidelines we have only two ways of conducting primaries; either direct primaries or consensus. Since there is only one aspirant, all we need to do is use the consensus option,” he said.

He further asked members present if there were any objections to the process, but none was raised.

“By the mandate given to me by the National Office, I hereby declare Samuel Danauta Kyarshik as the authentic governorship candidate,” Luka announced.

Following his affirmation as the governorship candidate of the APM for the 2027 elections, Samuel Danauta Kyarshik described the moment as the beginning of a new era for Plateau State, promising transformation, inclusiveness, and development.

Kyarshik said Plateau remains a home for all people regardless of background, stressing that his administration would focus on unity and restoring the state’s reputation for peaceful coexistence and equal opportunities.

“Plateau State is too rich to be poor. Plateau State, I repeat, is too rich to be poor,” he declared.

The APM candidate blamed the state’s economic struggles on poor leadership over the years, insisting that his administration would unlock the economic potential of Plateau and improve the living conditions of the people.

On insecurity, Kyarshik assured residents of decisive leadership in protecting lives and property. “Plateau State needs a leader that can take a bullet for her people. I’m ready to die for the people of Plateau,” he stated.

Speaking after the affirmation, Mohammed Abdullahi Danbaba, The Plateau State Chairman of the APM has said the party is determined to bring development and address challenges affecting the state, especially insecurity, poor roads, and lack of basic amenities.

The chairman described the candidate as loyal, respectful, and capable of delivering quality leadership to the people of Plateau State.

“We don’t have roads, we don’t have so many things, so in short these are the little things that we are ready to bring and by the special grace of God we will bring it,” he stated.

Also speaking, Hon. Emmanuel Goladi, the Plateau State Coordinator of the APM Strategic Team, says the Allied People’s Movement is prepared to provide a new style of leadership focused on teamwork, unity, and solving the challenges facing Plateau State.

Goladi stated that insecurity remains one of the major problems confronting the state, adding that the party has carefully studied the situation and is determined to bring lasting solutions if elected in 2027.

“The APM knows our problems here on the Plateau. The APM has recognized and pinpointed the problems, which majorly lie within insecurity, and we are here as a team, not as individuals,” he said.
