The presidential candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Seyi Makinde, has urged Christians to actively participate in politics, describing the 2027 general elections as a defining moment for Nigeria.
Makinde made the call during a visit to the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Headquarters Church in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of his campaign rally in the state.
The visit was part of his engagements with religious leaders and the Christian community as he seeks support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing the congregation, Makinde said Nigeria had experienced significant challenges since gaining independence in 1960, noting that the country had yet to fulfil its potential for the benefit of all citizens.
He said his ambition and that of his team was to reposition the country, adding that Christians should not withdraw from politics because of the perceived challenges and dirty nature of the political environment.
According to him, active Christian participation in politics is necessary to influence decisions and change the course of the nation’s history.
“As Christians, we must participate. We must let our voices be heard in changing the course of history for Nigeria,” he said.
The APM presidential candidate also attributed his political journey to his faith in God rather than the backing of influential political figures. Recalling his emergence as governor of Oyo State, he said he had no political godfather and expressed confidence that God would equally guide his presidential ambition.

Earlier, in his sermon titled “Abounding Grace,” Rev. Dindam Audu Wuyep, drawing from 2 Timothy 2:1, urged Christians to depend continually on God’s grace, describing it as the source of their strength and ability to fulfil His purpose.
Wuyep explained that grace was not an invitation for believers to remain passive but an opportunity to serve God and glorify His name. He identified humility, faithfulness in difficult circumstances, kindness and forgiveness as practical expressions of God’s grace.
He further urged Christians to extend the grace they have received to others through service and discipleship, stressing that the Christian journey comes with challenges and requires God’s strength to remain faithful to the end.
