Ambassador Godwin Okoko, Executive Director of Bege Foundation, was honoured at the 11th Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA 2025) for his work as a Peace Advocate and his contributions to community development.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amb. Okoko explained that his work over the past 14 years has focused on promoting peace and social cohesion, particularly at the grassroots level.

He noted that he often prefers recognition from local communities rather than large awards, saying the honour is more of a motivation to continue his peace-building efforts.

“This award for me is not a personal one, but collectively to all those on the front line promoting peace, preventing conflict, and strengthening community social cohesion,” he said.

He encouraged everyone in the community to continue contributing to society, adding that the award should inspire further efforts for the common good.

Amb. Okoko also commended the PMYA organisers for their consistency and steady commitment to recognising outstanding individuals and institutions in Plateau State.

He suggested that future awards should also include community-level stakeholders whose contributions often go unnoticed, ensuring that grassroots actors are celebrated alongside key leaders.

Finally, he expressed support for the launch of the Eminence Magazine, describing it as an important platform to highlight impactful individuals and community initiatives across the state.
