Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, has been named Best Performing Local Government Chairman of the Year at the Plateau Man of the Year Awards (PMYA) 2025 for his people-focused leadership.

The award recognises the visible impact of his administration through key projects and reforms aimed at improving governance and service delivery across the local government.

In the health sector, Hon. Dung completed the renovation of the hospital at Nyango Ntah Gyel, providing residents with improved access to quality healthcare services.

He also prioritised education and youth welfare by converting the Jos South Local Government Guest House in Kuru into a corps members’ lodge, offering a more conducive environment for national service personnel.

To enhance efficiency, the chairman renovated the Local Government Secretariat, restored electricity, improved working conditions, and established an ICT centre to equip youths with digital skills.

His administration further strengthened transparency and service delivery through the installation of Starlink internet services and the launch of an official Jos South Local Government website to support ease of doing business.

The PMYA 2025 honour underscores Hon. Silas Patrick Dung’s commitment to inclusive governance, grassroots development, and sustainable progress in Jos South Local Government Area.

The 2025 edition of the Plateau Man of the Year Awards is set to hold on Saturday, 8th February 2026, at the Usiju World Event Centre in Jos, bringing together distinguished personalities, public servants, and stakeholders to celebrate outstanding achievements and contributions to the development of Plateau State.
