President Bola Tinubu has appointed Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan as the new Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD). This decision is part of a broader initiative to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian and social development programs across Nigeria.
Chief Gufwan, hailing from Plateau State, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He holds an LLB and serves as the executive director of the Beautiful Gate Handicapped People Centre in Jos, a position that underscores his dedication to the welfare of people with disabilities.
In announcing the appointment, President Tinubu emphasized the importance this appointment leading with integrity and diligence. He stressed that the primary beneficiaries of these reconfigured welfare program should be the most vulnerable groups in Nigerian society.
This appointment is one of seven recent strategic appointments aimed at strengthening the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development. The President’s vision is to ensure that these agencies are more effective in providing the necessary relief and support to Nigerians in need.
