The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), has disclosed that it remained apolitical, and had no interest in the affairs of any political party in Nigeria or at the sub national level.

The JNI Publicity Secretary, Plateau State chapter, Muhammad Sani Mudi, made the disclosure during a press conference, Saturday, held at the boardroom of the Jos Central Mosque, reacting to a viral writeup by a politician tagged: “Jama’atu Nasril Islam, beware of PDP antics.”

He said the JNI, came across a statement with the above caption and circulated by one Shittu Bamaiyi of the APC in Plateau state.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the JNI in Plateau state or at the national level has not mandated anybody outside its appropriate officials to speak on its behalf on any issue that concerns it, either in Plateau state or at the national level.

“JNI as the umbrella body of the Muslim Ummah is apolitical, non partisan and has no interest in the affairs of any political party in Nigeria or at any sub national level,” Mudi stressed.

He said the JNI under the capable leadership of His Eminence Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar 111, has no problem whatsoever in its relationship with any Islamic group in Nigeria such that it would warrant the interest or comment of external body (ies).

According to the JNI, Shittu Bamaiyi, is entitled to his personal views, but as a politician he should not delve into the issues that are faith based.

“There are Muslims members of the APC, and there are also Muslim members of the PDP.

“We as members of the JNI, as Nigerian citizens, we have the right to vote and hold our political feelings but that is personal to ourselves.

“While disassociating ourselves with the said statement and it’s contents, we wish to advise persons/groups with partisan interests to desist from dragging the good name of the JNI in their political wranglings and to state that such will not be tolerated in the future,” it said.

The JNI Publicity Secretary, reiterated that they body always speakers for its self.
