The Nigerian Army has announced plans to conduct its annual field training exercise, code-named Exercise MUGUN BUGU V, in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State from November 6 to 19, 2026.

The exercise, also known as Operation GARKUWAN DAJI, is part of the Army’s routine military training aimed at strengthening the operational skills and preparedness of its personnel.

In a statement, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora, Major Godfrey Abakpa, said the exercise would involve the movement of troops and military equipment to designated training areas.

He urged residents, farmers, herders and commuters in Alkaleri and neighbouring communities not to panic over the movement of large numbers of soldiers or the sound of gunfire and explosives during the exercise.

“The Nigerian Army reassures residents that necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the period of the exercise,” the statement said.

The Army also appealed to the media and members of the public to help disseminate the information to ensure residents are adequately informed and prepared.

It urged residents to cooperate with military personnel throughout the exercise period.
