The Nigerian Army has announced a nationwide verification and screening exercise for children of fallen military personnel as part of its educational sponsorship programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The exercise aims to identify eligible children who will benefit from educational support, ensuring that the sacrifices of their parents are honoured.

According to a notice posted on the official X handle of the Nigerian Army, the verification will take place across all six geopolitical zones between February and March 2026.

In the South-South zone, the exercise will hold from February 23 to 26, 2026, at the Headquarters, 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

For the South-East, verification will be conducted from February 28 to March 3, 2026, at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Enugu, Enugu State.

The South-West zone exercise is scheduled for March 5 to 8, 2026, at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Ibadan, Oyo State.

In the North-East, the screening will take place from March 11 to 14, 2026, at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Bauchi, Bauchi State.

The Army has assured that the exercise will be conducted professionally and transparently to ensure that all eligible children benefit from the programme.

Parents and guardians of eligible children have been urged to come with the necessary documents, including proof of parentage and death certificates of the fallen soldiers.

The initiative is part of the Nigerian Army’s broader effort to support the welfare and education of families who have lost loved ones in service to the nation.

Officials have also called on community leaders and local media outlets to assist in spreading information about the exercise to reach all eligible beneficiaries.

The Army emphasized that this programme demonstrates its commitment to honouring the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and ensuring that their children have opportunities for a better future.
