The First Lady, Remi Tinubu, allegedly excluded the Plateau State branch of Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, while choosing the recipients of her N500 million palliative contribution.
During a visit to express her condolences on Tuesday, Mrs. Tinubu declared that 500 families impacted by the Plateau conflict in the state’s five local government areas of Mangu, Bokkos, Barikin Ladi, Riyom, and Jos South would each get N500 million.
But the JNI claimed that the list of recipient households was unequal in a statement by its director of ICT/NGO matters, Lawal Ishaq.
There isn’t a single Muslim benefactor on the list, claims the statement.
The JNI claimed prejudice in preparing the list of the beneficiaries, casting doubt on the sincerity of the Plateau State administration in offering a long-lasting solution to the situation in the state.
The uneven character of the list of 500 families who were victims of the most recent round of crises in five local government areas of Plateau state has angered and disappointed many Islamic leaders as well as Fulani ranchers.
“The absence of a single Muslim recipient on the Plateau state government’s list of beneficiaries shocked many Muslims and Fulani leaders.
The JNI said, “This is sad because it is known that many Muslims, including many Fulani herders, were forced to flee due of the crisis, particularly in Mangu LGA where the conflict took on a religious dimension.
