The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Tuesday met with members of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) in Abuja to strengthen cooperation between the party’s national leadership and its governors.
The closed-door meeting took place at the Imo State Liaison Office in Abuja and was chaired by the Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside other APC leaders.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, Senator Uzodimma said the governors reaffirmed their commitment to internal democracy, stronger party structures, and reforms that promote transparency, accountability, and inclusion within the APC at all levels.
He said the Forum reviewed and endorsed the timetable and institutional framework earlier approved by the APC National Executive Council for the upcoming ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, as well as the party’s national convention.
The governors also stressed the need for transparent and well-coordinated financial management in conducting party congresses and conventions to ensure fairness and accountability across the country.
The Forum commended the ongoing APC membership e-registration exercise, noting that it would support better planning, improve data collection, and strengthen grassroots participation nationwide.
The PGF formally welcomed the Governors of Taraba and Plateau States into the Forum and pledged to work closely with the APC national leadership to promote national development and democratic growth.
It was also announced that the Forum would begin strategic engagements and state visits, starting with Taraba State, to strengthen party unity and grassroots structures.
Senator Uzodimma thanked the APC National Chairman and party leadership for their engagement and reaffirmed the PGF’s commitment to unity, discipline, and credible party processes.
