The Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (PSUBEB) has ordered the immediate closure of all basic schools across Plateau State as a precautionary measure.
According to a statement issued by the Board, Government Junior Model Secondary Schools (GJMSSs) will shut down effective Saturday, 22 November 2025.
Primary and Day Schools are also expected to close starting Monday, 24 November 2025.
PSUBEB explained that the decision underscores “the urgent need for preventive action” in light of emerging concerns affecting schools in the state.
The Board assured parents, guardians, and stakeholders that the closure is temporary and aimed at forestalling potential threats while prioritizing the wellbeing of learners.
It urged Local Government Education Authorities, school administrators, and community leaders to fully comply with the directive and to remain vigilant throughout the period.
The statement was signed by the Management of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board on 21 November 2025.
