The Plateau State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plans to conduct its elective congress on Saturday, October 25, 2025, as part of efforts to rebuild party unity and strengthen its internal structure.

Political analysts have described the upcoming congress as a crucial step to correct the mistakes that weakened the PDP before the 2023 general elections, which allowed the All Progressives Congress (APC) to gain advantage following legal disputes over party structures.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Chairperson, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee of the PDP, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the party said all arrangements have been finalized for a smooth and credible congress.

“The Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party wishes to inform its teeming members, supporters, and the general public that arrangements have been concluded for the conduct of the Plateau State Elective Congress scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th October 2025,” the statement reads.

The event will take place at the WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with delegates from all 17 local government areas expected to attend.

Ramnap explained that the congress is designed to further strengthen the structures of the PDP and consolidate its unity, ensuring the party remains a strong political force in Plateau State.

“The Congress is aimed at further strengthening the structures of the PDP and consolidating its unity and internal democracy,” she emphasized.

She commended members across the state for their commitment, loyalty, and peaceful conduct, noting that their cooperation has been instrumental to the party’s resilience despite past challenges.

“The State Working Committee expresses appreciation to members of the party across the state for their continued loyalty, commitment, and peaceful conduct,” she stated.

Ramnap said the congress will offer an opportunity for the PDP to reaffirm its commitment to development, good governance, and people-oriented leadership in Plateau State.

“The Congress will provide another opportunity for the party to reaffirm its collective resolve towards building a more vibrant and people-oriented PDP that will continue to champion the cause of development and good governance on the Plateau,” she added.

She advised delegates and observers to arrive early, maintain decorum, and strictly adhere to the party’s guidelines throughout the process.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the PDP’s determination to restore hope, deepen democracy, and deliver the dividends of governance to the people of Plateau State.
