In a move to enhance military operations and ensure better coordination, a team from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has visited the Joint Operations Area of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) in Jos, Plateau State.
The visit, which took place on Friday, 18th July 2025, aimed to assess the performance of troops, ensure compliance with rules of engagement, and improve inter-agency cooperation in the ongoing security efforts.
Receiving the team on behalf of the Commander, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, was the Chief of Staff, Operation SAFE HAVEN. He highlighted the achievements of the operation so far and expressed hope that the visit would help enhance operational efficiency.

The team leader, Air Vice Marshal MN Onyebashi, praised the dedication and resilience of the troops across various sectors. He stressed the importance of intelligence-driven operations to tackle emerging security challenges.
AVM Onyebashi urged the troops to stay vigilant, maintain discipline, and avoid distractions while on duty. He conveyed the Chief of Defence Staff’s appreciation and assured them of continued support in terms of logistics and welfare.
As part of the assessment, the DHQ team visited frontline sectors including Sector 3 Bassa, Sector 8 Mangu, and Sector 6 Riyom. They were welcomed and briefed by the respective Sector Commanders on operational activities.
Speaking at the sectors, AVM Onyebashi commended the troops for their efforts against non-state actors. He encouraged them to sustain their momentum while upholding professionalism and neutrality.
The visit also featured ceremonial activities such as a quarter guard parade, operational briefings, signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of a souvenir, and a group photograph.
