Major General Maxwell Dangana has officially assumed duty as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division, Nigerian Army, succeeding Major General Folusho Oyinlola after 18 months in command.

The handing and taking over ceremony was held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Rukuba Barracks, Jos, marking a new phase in the leadership of the Division.

Major General Dangana takes over the command at a time when the Nigerian Army continues to intensify efforts to tackle security challenges and strengthen peace operations within its area of responsibility.

The brief but significant ceremony was attended by senior military officers and personnel, who witnessed the formal transfer of command from the outgoing GOC to his successor.

Major General Oyinlola, who served as GOC for 18 months, handed over the leadership of the Division after overseeing several operational and administrative activities during his tenure.

The new GOC is expected to build on the achievements of his predecessor while sustaining ongoing military operations aimed at enhancing security and stability.

The change of command underscores the Nigerian Army’s tradition of orderly leadership transition and continuity in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
