The All Progressives Congress (APC) Executive Committee of Bokkos Local Government Area has expressed strong disapproval over the recent lifting of the suspension placed on Hon. Danjuma Mabas, the embattled party chairman of the local government.

In a letter dated 1st July 2025, addressed to the Plateau State APC Chairman, jointly signed by 21 EXCO members of the APC Bokkos LGA, the committee declared that the chairman remains suspended, emphasizing that the local APC Executive Committee was neither consulted nor invited for a hearing regarding the decision.

The letter which was reads in part: “At no point were members of the Bokkos Local Government APC Executive Committee invited, consulted, or given a hearing regarding the ongoing matter by the state chapter of the party to whom the letter of suspension was addressed.”

Mafulul further highlighted a disparity in the party’s disciplinary process, noting that while due process was followed in Jos South, Bokkos was deprived of the same procedural courtesy. He warned that this failure undermines the credibility of the APC’s internal mechanisms and raises serious doubts about the impartiality of the party’s state leadership.

Adding to the tension, rumors circulating in Bokkos allege that financial inducements may have influenced the lifting of the suspension, a claim that Mafulul condemned as a betrayal of the party’s core values. He said:
“If true, this represents a betrayal of the values the APC claims to uphold and sets a dangerous precedent.”

The statement also strongly criticized efforts to reinstate the suspended chairman through backdoor dealings, asserting that such attempts will be resisted by the APC in Bokkos. Mafulul accused those behind the move of questionable loyalty to the party and warned against compromising internal democracy for political expediency or personal gain.

Calling on the Plateau State chapter of the APC to uphold transparency and fairness, the Bokkos APC faction urged the state leadership to act responsibly to avoid deepening divisions within the party. Mafulul stressed:
“The stakes are high, and any action that suggests compromise or favoritism will only deepen divisions, weaken party cohesion, and jeopardize our electoral chances in the future!”

He concluded with a firm reminder that the suspension remains effective until due process is followed:
“Hon. Danjuma Mabas remains suspended until due process is duly followed!!!”

In a related development, the APC Daffo Ward has suspendsd Hon. Danjuma Mabas, the embattled APC Chairman of Bokkos LGA pending the conclusion of the Disciplinary Committee set up by the Bokkos LGA Executives of the party. In a statement by party secretary dated 3rd July 2025 and received by the State Party Secretariat on the same day, the Daffo Ward EXCO said that the decision follows their petition submitted to the State Executive Committee of the party on 28th June 2025. The Daffo APC Executive accused Hon. Danjuma Mabas of Financial Misconduct, sabotage in the October 2024 Local Government Elections and absence from party functions.

This development adds another layer of complexity to the internal dynamics of the APC in Plateau State, as factions within the party continue to clash following the outcome of the 2023 polls which the party lost to the PDP. This development may impact greatly on the party going into future elections if not properly managed.
