Former Plateau State Governor and Senator, Dr. Jonah David Jang, has strongly criticised Governor Caleb Mutfwang, accusing him of undermining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that brought him to power.

Jang made the remarks on Wednesday during a PDP stakeholders’ meeting held at the Plateau State PDP Secretariat, where he dismissed claims that the governor did not defect from the party.

According to the former governor, Mutfwang was elected on the platform of the PDP and should not attempt to distance himself from the party’s mandate.

“He was elected inside PDP before he defected, and he doesn’t like the word ‘defect’. We brought him to power; you can’t take our mandate anywhere,” Jang said.

The senator warned against efforts to sever ties with the party’s structure and support base, stressing that political power derives from the collective strength of the PDP.

Jang also highlighted the PDP’s contributions to governance in Plateau State, noting that key government infrastructure was delivered under PDP-led administrations.

“PDP government built that government house,” he added, emphasising the party’s foundational role in the state’s political and administrative development.

His comments reflect rising tensions within Plateau State’s political landscape, as debates over party loyalty and legacy continue to intensify ahead of future political engagements.
