The University of Jos has announced the postponement of examinations and issued a security advisory following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, an area populated by many of its staff and students.

The late evening attack by unknown gunmen has heightened tension within the community and surrounding areas, prompting urgent action from the university management to safeguard lives.

Acting on the directive of the Vice Chancellor, the institution confirmed that all examinations earlier scheduled for Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 2026, have been postponed.

The university stated that the affected examinations will be rescheduled, with new dates to be communicated to students in due course.

In addition to the postponement, members of the university community have been strongly advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant in their daily activities both on and off campus.

The advisory specifically warned against early morning movements, urging students and staff to avoid coming out very early as a precautionary measure amid the tense situation.

The management also encouraged prompt reporting of any suspicious movements or threats to peace, directing such information to the University Security Division.

It further disclosed that the university is actively engaging with relevant security agencies to closely monitor developments and ensure the safety of lives and property.

The institution reassured students and staff that it remains committed to their welfare and is taking all necessary steps to manage the situation effectively.

The statement added that further updates will be provided as events unfold, while calling on the university community to remain calm and cooperative during this period.
