At least two persons have been killed and several others injured following a fresh attack by suspected bandits on Pwomol village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The напад occurred on the night of Sunday, April 5, leaving homes and food barns destroyed.

Confirming the incident, the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, said the attackers invaded the community around midnight, shooting sporadically and killing two youths while injuring many others who fled into nearby bushes.

He described the incident as the second attack on the community within a week, noting that the assailants also set houses and food storage facilities ablaze, worsening the plight of residents.

Mwantiri further revealed that one of the suspected attackers, identified as Suleiman, was apprehended and handed over to security operatives. The suspect was reportedly arrested around the Redemption Camp area between Heipang and Kassa with blood stains found on his body.

According to him, the suspect is currently in custody of security operatives at Sector 4 in Barkin Ladi for further investigation.

The BYM President called on security agencies to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation and ensure that the suspect provides useful information that will lead to the arrest of other perpetrators.

He also commended the swift response of the Operation Enduring Peace, while urging residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by reporting suspicious movements.

The latest attack adds to growing concerns over recurring violence in parts of Plateau State, as communities continue to call for stronger security measures and lasting solutions.
