Senator (Dr) Jonah David Jang, CON, has reacted to the resignation of Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a personal political choice made in pursuit of purposeful leadership and service delivery.
In a press statement issued by Clinton Garuba, Media Consultant to Senator Jonah David Jang, the former Governor said he had taken note of Governor Mutfwang’s resignation letter and acknowledged that the Governor had earlier informed him of his intention to move to the ruling APC, which he believed was in the interest of Plateau State.
Senator Jang assured the PDP leadership, members, supporters, and the general public that the party remains strong, stable, and united despite the development. He emphasized that the PDP would continue to play its key role in Nigeria’s democratic process.
He added that the PDP remains committed to internal democracy, inclusive governance, and policies that promote national development, while maintaining open engagement with its members across the state.
Senator Jang therefore urged PDP members and supporters in Plateau State to remain calm, confident, and committed to the party’s ideals and future.
While wishing Governor Mutfwang well in his new political journey, Senator Jang said his doors remain open to the Governor for guidance and counsel, describing himself as a father figure who desires the best for Plateau State.
He further advised the Governor to remain focused on serving the people of Plateau State who elected him, stressing that political power ultimately belongs to the people.
Senator Jang also charged those who may follow the Governor to his new political party to always place the interest of Plateau State above party loyalty or personal ambitions.
He expressed hope that, in the end, all political decisions and actions would work for the collective good and development of Plateau State and its people.
