The Plateau Youth Council (PYC) Chairman’s Forum of the Northern Zone has distributed relief materials to communities affected by recent attacks in Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State, aiming to support victims and ease humanitarian suffering.
The intervention targeted communities that suffered heavily during the attacks, including Bindi Tahoss in Riyom LGA, where 27 lives were lost, and Zike Community in Kimakpa, Kwall District of Bassa LGA, which recorded 52 fatalities.
The delegation was led by Rwas Zang Apollos, Chairman of the Plateau Youth Council in Barkin Ladi and Chairman of the Northern Zone Forum. Relief items distributed included rice, maize, groundnut oil, palm oil, yams, spices, salt, and other basic essentials for the affected families.

Speaking during the visit, Rwas Zang Apollos explained that the humanitarian outreach was carried out with the approval and support of the zonal leadership of the youth council, adding that the decision was informed by the hardship faced by communities in the Northern Zone.
He further stated that food shortage had become a major challenge for residents, particularly those who could no longer farm due to insecurity. This informed the decision to provide support across Riyom and Bassa LGAs.
“This outreach is to show our concern and support for the affected communities. We want them to know that the Plateau Youth Council shares in their pain and stands with them during this difficult time,” he said.

While receiving the relief materials, His Royal Highness Pastor Kimnan D. Manja, traditional ruler of Tahoss (Bindi by extension), praised the youth council for their presence and support. He described youths as the pillar of society and commended the council for leading with compassion, purpose, and responsibility.

Also commending the youth council, District Head of Kimakpa, Chief Luka Miri, appreciated the relief materials and prayed for lasting peace in Bassa LGA and Plateau State at large. He further condemned drug abuse and alcoholism among youths and urged the council to educate young people against such vices.

Youth leader of Bindi, Ezekiel Yakubu, and Rivi Rime, leader of Zike community, commended the youth council for its thoughtful gesture. They prayed that God would continue to open doors of blessings for the council and reward its leadership for supporting the communities in this period of need.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Comr. Zang Kefas, PYC Chairman of Riyom LGA, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Pastor Kimnan D. Manja for his guidance and mentorship. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Senators Dachungyang, I.D. Gyang, Gyang Zi, Hon. Dalyop Fom, and the security personnel, emphasizing that their combined efforts strengthened the council’s outreach and reinforced solidarity with the affected communities.

Comr. Timothy Raku Ngwe, PYC Chairman of Bassa, also thanked the District Head of Zike and the Northern Zone Chairman for facilitating the visit, while praying for a safe return of the delegation and blessings for all involved.

The relief distribution show the commitment of the Plateau Youth Council to address humanitarian needs and promote unity, peace, and resilience among communities affected by violence in the Northern Zone of Plateau State.
