The Plateau Lawyers Forum has condemned in strong terms the recent killings of innocent residents in Angwan Rukuba, describing the incident as both heartless and unacceptable in a society governed by law.

In a press release issued on March 31, 2026, the Forum expressed deep concern over the recurring attacks across Plateau State, noting that communities within the state have continued to suffer from persistent insecurity and violence.

The legal body observed that the March 29 attack is part of a troubling pattern of coordinated assaults affecting several areas, including Wase, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Bassa, and now Jos North.

“Plateau State has continued to face systematic armed attacks from terrorist elements. These attacks have spread across the three Senatorial Zones of the State,” the statement said.

The Forum extended its condolences to the families of those who lost their lives, while also offering prayers for the quick recovery of those injured during the tragic incident.

“We sincerely commensurate with the families who lost their loved ones and pray for a quick recovery for the injured,” the lawyers added.

It stressed that the loss of lives reflects the urgent need for decisive action, noting that the safety and dignity of citizens must be treated as a top priority by authorities.

“We share your pains, and our hearts are heavy, like yours,” the statement further read.

The Forum called on the government to go beyond mere statements by taking concrete steps to ensure that those responsible for the killings are identified, arrested, and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“Call on the Plateau State Government to match words with action by ensuring that the perpetrators of this despicable onslaught and their sponsors are identified, arrested and dealt with according to law,” the statement emphasized.

It also raised concerns over the alleged delay in response by security agencies, urging the government to investigate why nearby police formations failed to act promptly during the attack.

The lawyers further recommended strengthening security architecture in the state, including empowering Operation Rainbow, increasing personnel deployment, enforcing existing laws, and introducing modern surveillance systems to prevent future occurrences.
