The Plateau State Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area following the deadly attack in Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba.

The directive comes after the tragic incident on Sunday, March 29, 2026, which led to the loss of several lives and left many others injured, throwing the community into mourning.

In a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the government announced that the curfew takes immediate effect from midnight of March 29 and will last until April 1, 2026.

According to the statement, the decision was taken in conjunction with security agencies to restore calm and prevent further breakdown of law and order in the area.

The government strongly condemned the attack, describing it as barbaric and unprovoked, while assuring residents that efforts are underway to track down those responsible.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, vowing that perpetrators of the violence will be brought to justice.

Residents of Jos North have been urged to remain calm, comply fully with the curfew, and cooperate with security agencies during the period.

The government also called on citizens to provide useful information that could assist ongoing investigations and security operations.

Security agencies are expected to intensify patrols and surveillance across the local government area to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

Authorities expressed confidence that the temporary restriction will help restore peace and stability in the affected communities.
