As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, Hon. Dung Danboyi, Chairman-ship Aspirant, Riyom Local Government Council, extends warm greetings to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora and calls for renewed hope, unity and a deeper commitment to building a nation where every citizen can live with dignity, security and opportunity.

Sixty-six years after independence, Nigeria has every reason to celebrate its resilience, diversity and the enduring strength of its people. But this anniversary must also be a moment of honest reflection.

For millions of Nigerians, the present reality remains difficult. Insecurity continues to threaten communities, the rising cost of living places enormous pressure on families, and many young Nigerians are struggling to find meaningful opportunities. These realities remind us that the promise of independence must remain a responsibility we collectively work to fulfil.

In his message, Hon. Danboyi acknowledged the efforts and responsibilities of leaders at all levels of government, particularly His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, Governor of Plateau State; and Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Piyo, Deputy Governor of Plateau State, while praying that God continues to grant them wisdom, courage and compassion in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“Independence is more than the freedom we inherited in 1960. It is also the responsibility we carry to one another and to the generations coming after us. Our people deserve a Nigeria where peace is not a privilege, where hard work can provide a decent living, and where every young person can look into the future with genuine hope.”

Hon. Danboyi particularly called for greater attention to the security of communities, economic empowerment, youth development, agriculture, education and access to opportunities, noting that the strength of Nigeria ultimately lies in the wellbeing and productivity of its people.

He also urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country because of the difficulties of the moment, stressing that nation-building is a collective responsibility that requires responsible leadership, active citizenship, tolerance and a shared commitment to the common good.

“We may have different backgrounds, beliefs and political opinions, but we share one country and one future. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and the responsibility to make her better cannot be left to government alone. Every citizen has a role to play.”

He further commended the men and women of the Armed Forces, police and other security agencies who continue to serve under difficult circumstances, while remembering the families and communities that have suffered loss as a result of insecurity and violence.

As Nigerians celebrate today, Hon. Danboyi offers a prayer for the nation:

May God grant Nigeria lasting peace, protect our communities, strengthen our institutions, give wisdom to our leaders, provide relief to families facing hardship, and guide our nation towards a future of justice, prosperity and shared opportunity.

May the Nigeria we continue to hope for become the Nigeria we collectively build.
Happy 66th Independence Anniversary, Nigeria.

God bless Nigeria.
God bless Plateau State.
God bless Riyom Local Government Area.
